The menu selections to the left provide a number of illustrations concerning appropriate use of primary and secondary resources in critical writing.

Quotations -- This section provides examples of proper quotation format for passages of poetry and prose.

Paraphrase -- This section highlights the danger of inadvertently (we hope!) drawing too much upon the language and linguistic logic of a source in a passage that is intended to be a paraphrase or summary.

Source Evaluation -- Here you will find guidelines for evaluating the usefulness and reliability of secondary sources.

Writing Strategies -- This section highlights some common rhetorical strategies for using secondary sources to support critical commentary.
